Illustrations are saccharine, and it doesn't actually *name* the parts of the Mass. It's like "we sing to God!" OK, cool, but that's super unspecific. Why not title each page with the corresponding part of the Mass? Responsorial Psalm? Consecration? Gospel? Offertory? I wanted a book to give context to the liturgy while teaching the parts of the Mass. This is not that book. In fact, I suggest avoiding this whole series. Ugly art and revisionist scripture timelines.
This book is perfect for Mass, we've been using it since our daughter was 1yr old (now 3). And each year she's observing and comparing more and more between it and Mass...we love how excited she gets.
My 3-year old brings this to mass and looks at it. Glad we bought it.
After reading the other review I almost didn't select this one. And I'd have to disagree with the comment made concerning the mood on the faces. I think the older man's face only shows sincerity with signs of age. So you should decide for yourself. I like the text but am not too interested in the commonality of each illustrated page. As you turn each page, they seem to be almost like the last one. I'm afraid they won't hold the attention of a toddler/young child as they try to sit quietly in Mass. At least it will be an appropriate book to hold with its top integrated handle.
My daughter is 13 months old and loves this book. It is her favorire book from this series. She can easily turn the pages and look through all of the colorful pictures. I think it is a great learning tool for her age and I know we will use it for a few more years. Right now she loves finding Jesus on all the pages (either in the Eucharist or on the crucifix). I highly recommend this book.

I got this for my niece, they attend the Catholic church and we do not so they might have a different point of view....however; I read through this book and it was very matter of fact of the reasons that you attend mass. It has really good pictures and I am excited to give it to her.
